UK private equity firms increase global investment activity
UK private equity companies invested a total of 11.7 billion globally in 2005, a 21% increase on the previous year, according to the latest research undertaken by the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA).

Survey finds strong growth in UK service sector
Companies across the UK service sector created significant numbers of jobs during the last three months (with record numbers of jobs created in the professional services sector), according to the Service Sector Survey undertaken by the CBI and Grant Thornton. 

HSBC, the UK-based global financial services company, has reported a strong start to 2007, with growth across all of its main global markets.
The company reported strong growth in Asia-Pacific (particularly in Hong Kong) due to growing equity markets leading to increasing fees from investment and brokerage services. In Europe, HSBC reported that it is continuing to face strong competition, although sales of savings products in the UK grew by 12% (compared to the start of 2006).

UK is leading European centre for investment banking
Revenue from European investment banking increased by 37% in 2006 to reach US$23 billion, with the UK accounting for over 27%, according to the ¡®International Financial Markets Report¡¯ produced by IFSL.
