Profit margins from Vodafone's continuing businesses fell from 39.6 per cent to 38.7 per cent, the mobile phone operator said yesterday as revenue growth outpaced the rise in earnings be-fore interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation.

Total revenues for the 12 months to March rose 6 per cent to £31.1bn ($61.7bn), with organic growth accounting for 4.3 per cent, while group ebitda increased 1.6 per cent to £11.96bn, in line with market expectations.

Arun Sarin, chief executive, said Vodafone had “made good progress in the execution of our strategy” which he set out a year ago. He said revenues this financial year were expected to rise to £33.3bn-£34.1bn. Vodafone shares jumped 5.5 per cent to close at 159.70p.
